Scripps’ Travel Channel and ulive to Grant Web Series Order at NYTVF
Two properties owned by Scripps Networks Interactive are teaming up to offer a web series order to an independent creator at the upcoming New York Television Festival.
Joining the NYTVF’s Development Partners program, which includes networks and production companies like A&E, Comedy Central, FremantleMedia North America, History, and Lionsgate, Travel Channel and ulive will offer one filmmaker the chance to produce a full season of an unscripted lifestyle web series.
This marks the first “multi-branded” corporate partnership with NYTVF that includes a guaranteed web-series order, according to NYTVF.
Original concepts will be betted from NYTVF’s 2014 class of “official artists” who participate in the NYTVF Pitch program. According to Variety, Scripps’ grant is for $30,000.
“Travel Channel is always searching for fresh ways to connect its viewers with the excitement and passion that comes with travel — across all media platforms. We look forward to identifying the next great storyteller and giving them the opportunity to share their unique POV through an original digital series,” said Ross Babbit, SVP of programming and development at Travel Channel, in a statement.
