SEC Network Will Sport Digital Companion for Original and Live Content
The SEC Network, a joint venture between ESPN and the southeastern college sports conference, is ready to go live on August 14. Paired with the TV network’s launch will be SEC Network+, a new digital platform that will stream original video content and exclusive live events across platforms.
SEC Network+ will be made available via the refurbished SECNetwork.com and WatchESPN, and will provide live and on-demand coverage of more than 550 “digital-exclusive” live sporting events. This content will span all sports and member schools, and will be high-quality, multi-camera productions, said ESPN. (Per the network’s initial schedule, though, content will focus more on sports like soccer and volleyball, which rarely get the time of day on television.)
The digital platform will also be the home for original short clips, studio programs, and various original digital video projects produced by SEC member schools and SECNetwork.com.
In addition to original digital content, SEC Network+ will also provide on-demand access to live games and events that originally aired on its TV counterpart.
Beyond SEC Network+, ESPN and the SEC are also launching SECSports.com. The official digital hub for the Southeastern Conference and its member schools, the site will offer sports news, information, stats, schedules, ticketing options, and video from around the SEC.
