Seth Green, Jash Also Producing Shows for Xbox
Today seems to be Xbox Entertainment Studios’ coming out party. In addition to its adaptation of the Swedish sci-fi series “Humans,” Xbox has announced two more series it plans to roll out later this year — and they come from recognizable faces in Hollywood.
Seth Green, via his production shingle Stoopid Buddy Stoodios, will be producing a stop-motion animated series, in the style of his popular “Robot Chicken” program on Adult Swim, while Michael Cera and Sarah Silverman are making a sketch comedy show through their YouTube comedy collective Jash.
Microsoft has also ordered a pilot for the unscripted series “Fearless,” which follows Australian Navy bomb clearance diver Paul de Gelder as he helps people who are trying to make the world a better place.
These three shows, first reported by Bloomberg, join an original programming slate (officially greenlit or at least in development) that includes the aforementioned “Humans,” two “Halo”-based series, an unscripted soccer reality show, a music drama based on the life of rapper Nas, and a documentary series from producers Simon and Jonathan Chinn. All are expected to be previewed at Microsoft’s Newfront presentation in New York later this month.
Shows produced by Xbox Entertainment Studios will be aimed at 18- to 34-year-old males, a sought after demo for advertisers and one that Xbox does an already great job in reaching through its gaming division.
Xbox original programming will start rolling out in June, though an exact timetable has not yet been provided by the company.Tags: Jash, Michael Cera, NAS, Sarah Silverman, Seth Green, stoopid buddy stoodios, Xbox, Xbox Entertainment Studios, Xbox Live, youtube
