Smosh Takes “If It Were Real” Series to VOD
YouTube super pair Smosh is diving into video-on-demand (VOD) content. “If It Were Real Saga,” is a 60-minute compilation video based on the duo’s “If ____ Were Real” franchise. The pair, Ian Hecox and Anthony Padilla, have long been uploading “Real” content on YouTube, including “If Movies Were Real” and “If the Internet Were Real.”
“If It Were Real Saga” will be available on iTunes, Amazon, Google Play, Xbox, Vudu, and Playstation. The film will cost $3.99 SD and $4.99 HD for VOD rental and $5.99 SD and $7.99 HD for purchase.
The hour-long video will contain a majority of pre-released content from the “Real” franchise. However, roughly 10 minutes of the clip will be fresh, never-before-seen content.
Smosh has made continual efforts to branch off-YouTube in the past years. The pair, backed by the recently formed Defy Media, have released several multimedia projects including mobile games, a popular website, and a print magazine.Tags: Alloy Digital, Defy Media, If It Were Real Saga, smosh, VOD, youtube
