SoulPancake and Kid President Jump to TV via Series Deal with Hub Network
The Hub Network, a cable channel jointly run by Discovery Communications and Hasbro, has greenlit a variety show starring Kid President, the 10-year-old viral star from Rainn Wilson’s SoulPancake.
The half-hour show, “Kid President: Declaration of Awesome,” will consist of interviews and comedic sketches starring the Kid President, real families, and various celebrities. Hub Network is on board with an initial order of 10 episodes, produced by Wilson’s SoulPancake Television.
Kid President is a creation of Robby Novak (the Kid President) and his brother-in-law Brad Montague. The tyke rose to fame on YouTube with the viral video “Pep Talk from Kid President to You,” which has garnered more than 32 million views on YouTube to date.
“Kid President is all about getting kids and grown-ups to work together,” said Rainn Wilson, who’s executive producing, in a statement. “This show is an amazing blend of humor and heart, and The Hub Network is the perfect place for us to continue our mission to give the world a reason to dance.”
The TV series culminates a strong year for SoulPancake, which was founded by Wilson to create uplifting, thought-provoking content. SoulPancake highlights in the past year including topping 1 million subscribers on YouTube, its first TV-length online series “The Impression Guys,” and launching an Agency Services division with clients ranging from Disney to the United Nations.
SoulPancake EO Shabnam Mogharabi says the business is actively exploring new partnerships and opportunities. “We want to own this space for the next generation of content consumers.
