Subblime Debuts Showroom to Directly Reward YouTube Stars

/ Jul 25, 2013

Subblime wants to help create additional revenue streams for YouTube creators based on the brands and products they already like and/or feature in their videos. Last month, the company launched its social recommendations platform, which allows influencers to create product lists that their followers can “subbscribe” to.

Now, Subblime wants to also help influencers build relationships with brands. Today, the company is debuting Showroom (in beta), a new virtual marketplace that enables brands to offer rewards to YouTube stars and ideally form long, fruitful relationships.

For example, Showroom currently features a partnership with Oprah’s favorite folding ballerina flats, Tieks. The shoe brand is offering a two-tiered reward system, which enables influencers with at least a certain number of followers to get a free pair of shoes. The lower tier grants them a discount.

Subblime already allows influential YouTubers to cash in on their success by giving them a cut of their followers’ purchases on the site. Showroom just gives these creators the opportunity to earn some perks while doing it. And if that leads to the creator adding that brand’s product(s) on to his or her Subblime lists, then it benefits both parties: brands establish a direct line to highly-engaged YouTube communities and drive sales, and creators receive both free gifts and additional revenue for recommending those products.

Tieks co-founder Kfir Gavrieli says, “We’ve had YouTubers like iJustine and Nikki Phillipi tell us they really love our shoes,” adding “Subblime Showroom seemed like a great way for us to create more of these authentic connections with influencers.”

YouTube channels/creators already partnering with Subblime include WhatsUpELLE, Leviosaa, Liam Dryden, and Jason Horton, as well as networks like Big Frame and Pemberly Digital.
