Tastemade Brings Linear ‘Tastemade TV’ Stream Exclusively to Apple TV
It also features Tastemade TV, a linear stream comprised of the network’s original programming. The feed, which first debuted as part of Tastemade’s launch on Roku devices, will now be exclusive to Apple TV. Tastemade said it will roll out new blocks of programming for Tastemade TV every week. The initial block consists of content that “celebrates all the great food and travel destinations around Austin, Texas — home of Tastemade’s mobile development center.”
The Tastemade and Young Hollywood launches, when coupled with Apple’s partnership with HBO for HBO Now and the decision to slash Apple TV prices from $99 to $69, all point to an Apple that’s more focused than usual on its TV business. The company is also rumored to be planning an internet-based pay-TV service in an effort to challenge early starters like Dish Network’s Sling TV and Sony’s Vue.
It’s unclear what kind of placement, if any, these digital networks will have on that service, but with more exclusive content coming to Apple TV, Apple is gearing itself to take control of the connected-TV market, which is not good news for Roku.Tags: apple tv, connected TV, food, OTT, Roku, Tastemade, Tastemade TV
