Sundance: The Orchard Nabs Distribution Rights to ‘The Overnight’
The Orchard has landed distribution rights to “The Overnight,” a comedy that just premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.
The Orchard was actually the first distributor to make a bid exceeding $1 million for the film, as first reported by Variety, which led to a bidding war, though ultimately The Orchard still came out on top. Other bidders included Roadside, Lionsgate, and Radius-TWC.
“The Overnight,” which stars Jason Schwartzman, Taylor Schilling, and Adam Scott, is an LA-based sex comedy about two families that embark on a nighttime “playdate.” It was produced by Adam Scott, Naomi Scott, and Jay and Mark Duplass.
Recently, The Orchard partnered with Fanclub Media to combine their action-sports film and TV libraries. The digital distributor is also working towards some original programming per a deal with the New York Television Festival as of summer 2014.Tags: digital distribution, MCN, Sundance Film Festival, sundance film festival 2015, The Orchard, the overnight
