For a brief period of time, the third season of “House of Cards” was available on Netflix, more than two weeks before it was supposed to premiere.

Conde Nast’s ‘The Scene’ Inks Syndication and Development Deal with Univision’s ‘Flama’

Depending on the reporting site, Conde Nast has accumulated between 2.5 million and 4.1 million monthly unique users on its video content hub, The Scene.* Home to hundreds of premium series and videos from Conde Nast’s own publishing brands like Glamour, Wired and Bon Appetite, The Scene has also bolstered its library through syndication deals with ABC News, BuzzFeed, PBS Digital Studios, and now Univision’s digital platform, Flama, which will be making over 100 episodes of premium video content available.

Twitter Acquires Niche

Twitter Inc.’s acquisition of Niche Project Inc. will help users of the social-media company’s Vine video service get advertising revenue from the short clips they produce, Chief Executive Officer Dick Costolo said.

HBO Subscription Service To Be Priced As “Premium Product”

In October 2014, HBO announced plans for its own web video service. So far, few details have been revealed about the offering. However, in a call with analysts on February 11, 2015, the network famous for shows like Game of Thrones and Girls finally hinted at the cost of its upcoming subscription service.



BitTorrent Partners With Studio For More Exclusive Online Video Originals

BitTorrent is getting very serious about developing original web series for its audience. In addition to the peer-to-peer file sharing service’s recent documentary deal with Sony Pictures Classics, the company once infamously known for illegal torrenting, but now on the legal up-and-up has partnered with Rapid Eye Studios to create more video content under the title BitTorrent Originals.

Vice Names Ellis Jones Magazine Editor-in-Chief, Appoints Alex Miller Global Content Chief

Media and publishing company Vice Media said Ellis Jones has been named Vice Magazine’s editor-in-chief — following the resignation of EIC Rocco Castoro — and appointed Alex Miller, who previously oversaw the company’s U.K. content, to the position of global head of content.
