TouchCast Adds Post-Production Support, Unveils New In-Video Apps

/ Nov 21, 2013

TouchCast, a NY-based startup that wants to reinvent how digital video is created and experienced, is bringing post-production capabilities to video creators on its platform.

Since launching in late June, TouchCast has promoted its video-authoring service for giving creators the ability to make their videos interactive. This can be done via interactive elements called vApps (video apps), which let creators embed full web-pages, social media accounts, other video clips, and polls directly into the video. Basically, this makes it possible for viewers to watch a clip and, if they feel like it, browse a webpage or social media feed or video the person in the video is referring to.

As you can image, this requires a lot of pre-production as creators have to determine which elements they want to include in the video.

Now the platform is making it possible for creators to do a lot of that after the video has been shot. In fact, via a new video import capability, users can upload externally-shot videos and then add interactive elements to them. This capability supports videos shot on any camera or app, and even allows users to grab videos from a URL, according to TouchCast. The import feature is compatible on third-generation iPads and newer models.

Other updates include the ability for users to hyperlink images to web-pages as well as see who is following their channel. A Hot Spot option allows users to highlight an area of a video on which to link to external content.

TouchCast is also introducing a variety of new vApps, including Amazon, Movie Reviews, This Day in History, Calendar, and Giphy (for gifs).
