Transmedia Series ‘The Spinoffs’ Now on Rush It Network
A new transmedia “reality” series called “The Spinoffs,” which takes a meta approach to the world of YouTube creators and multi-channel networks, just debuted on the Rush It Network.
What is the Rush It Network, and why haven’t you heard of it yet? Well, the network is fictional, and Scott Zakarin formed it around the series, creating a sort of meta take on the way well known YouTube vloggers collaborate to gain more traction with fans.
“The Spinoffs” follows a group of vloggers financed by a “mysterious benefactor” to cohabitate in the Hollywood Hills. Each of the characters also has his or her own vlog (all part of the Rush It Network), in which they comment on the show’s events, in addition to social media accounts. The characters might also “spin off” into their own shows on the network…if the audience likes them enough.
Famed YouTubers will also make guest appearances on “The Spinoffs,” like WeeklyChris (real name: Christian Collins).
Scott Zakarin, who was responsible for interactive web series “The Spot,” created “The Spinoffs.” Episodes one through six are now up on the series’ dedicated YouTube Channel.Tags: rush it network, scott zakarin, the spinoffs, the spot, Transmedia, vloggers, weeklychris, youtube
