‘True Blood’ Nabs Karen Page Role in Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’
Deborah Ann Woll has been cast as the second female lead in Netflix and Marvel’s upcoming “Daredevil” TV series. Voll, who currently stars in HBO’s vampire drama “True Blood,” will play Karen Page, the titular character’s biggest love interest. In the 2013 “Daredevil” movie, the character was played by Ellen Pompeo.
Woll joins a cast that includes Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, a blind New York City lawyer who by night uses his enhanced other senses to fight crime. Other cast members include Vincent D’Onofrio as the villainous “Kingpin” Wilson Fisk, Rosario Dawson in a mysterious role that is rumored to be Daredevil rival Elektra, and Elden Henson as Murdock’s friend Foggy Nelson.
Netflix ordered a 13-episode season of “Daredevil” as part of a multi-show deal with Marvel, which will be producing three more series based on second-tier Marvel characters as well as a mini-series event that brings all of those characters together.
“Daredevil” comes from Marvel Television and ABC Studios. Steven S. DeKnight is the showrunner. Executive producers include DeKnight (“Spartacus”), Marvel’s head of television Jeph Loeb, and filmmaker Drew Goddard (“Cabin in the Woods”), who’s also scripting the show’s first two hours.Tags: Casting, Charlie Cox, Daredevil, Deborah Ann Woll, disney, Drew Goddard, Jeph Loeb, Marvel, Netflix, netflix originals, Steven S.
