Hulu Loses Round In Privacy Case, Data Shared With comScore

Handing Hulu a defeat, a judge ruled on Friday that users don’t need to show they sustained a financial loss in order to proceed with a privacy lawsuit against the company. The lawsuit centers on allegations that the streaming service wrongly shared data about users with comScore and Facebook, in violation of the Video Privacy Protection Act.

Networks Hit Back At Aereo In Supreme Court Response

If you thought the legal battle between Aereo and the broadcasters at the Supreme Court would take a break for the holidays, think again. Today, ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC and several other broadcasters fired back at the Barry Diller-back streaming service’s December 15 brief to meet their October 11 petition to the nation’s highest court.

An American man has been sentenced to a year in a Dubai prison after a painfully unfunny — although it might be we just don’t get the regional hilarity of it — YouTube video was posted. Shezanne Cassim, 29, an aviation consultant, was slapped with the prison time and a $2700 fine after he posted a video to YouTube last April. The 19-minute-long video, which is still available on YouTube, is called “Ultimate Combat System: The Deadly Satwa G’s” and focuses on the supposed martial art of one affluent UAE neighborhood.

Internet Ad Revs Climb to $10.69 Billion in Q3 2013 (IAB Study)

Internet ad revenues in the US hit an all-time high of $10.69 billion in the third quarter of 2013, according to new data released by the IAB and PwC US. The number represents a 15% increase over the $9.26 billion generated in Q3 2012, which itself was a record-breaker at the time.
