Crackle, Jeremy Renner Begin Production on New Feature Film

Crackle has started production on “The Throwaways,” a feature-length spy thriller from Jeremy Renner.

Originally announced during Crackle’s 2014 Newfront, “The Throwaways” will center on a gifted hacker captured by the CIA and given an ultimatum to either work for them or go to prison for the rest of his life. He agrees to join the agency on the condition that he gets to pick his team, the titular “throwaways.” Everybody then has to race against the clock to find and take down a cyber-terrorist.

Like the Macarena before it, Baauer’s “Harlem Shake” was one of those dance trends that, while ubiquitous for the better part of a month, is looked back on with a mix of embarrassment and nostalgia. But the sensation’s most significant legacy in the music world is a triumph of software, not treble and bass. Baauer’s label Mad Decent partnered with the Brooklyn-based music distribution network INDMUSIC to squeeze ad dollars out of not just Baauer’s original YouTube video, which racked up 25 million views on its own, but also the thousands of fan-made videos and the millions of views that came along with them, creating a huge windfall for the artist and his label.

WWE Shares Fall 6.8% Amid Growing Concerns About Its Online Subs

The wrestling company’s stock price was pummeled today after two market watchers — including CNBC’s Jim Cramer — urged investors to bail out, and fans had mixed reactions to Sunday’s Night Of Champions pay-per-view event. Cramer said on TheStreet,com, in response to a Twitter user’s question, that WWE  has “been a sell” since it launched a nearly $10 a month online channel, WWE Network, that includes programming also offered on pay-per-view for about $60. “I don’t want to be there,” Cramer says. “It’s had a bit of a run. You Can Now Preorder Sony’s Apple TV Killer

Sony announced on Monday that the PlayStation TV will be available on Oct. 14, and will launch with 700 games.

We got our first look at the set-top box at the E3 video game conference in June. It’s still nearly impossible to get HBO, or any other pay-TV channel, without subscribing to a pay-TV package that gives you a bundle of channels, whether you want them or not.

But the people who sell you TV are starting to tinker with the model, at least at the margins. Several pay-TV providers, for instance, sell “skinny” bundles of pay TV that allow you to buy a handful of channels. Now Dish is looking to do something similar with pay TV sold over the Web, and Sony’s Web TV model may be in the same wheelhouse.
