TV4 Entertainment to Launch Multi-Platform Dance/Music Channel

/ Jan 15, 2014

Digital “super-distributor” TV4 Entertainment has inked a “multi-network” agreement with Copeland International Arts, an entertainment company focused on dance and music content. Through the deal, the two companies will work together to launch multiple digital channels geared toward dance and music arts programming, beginning with the Dance Arts Network.

Launching in the first half of 2014, the new Dance Arts Network will feature a variety of library and original content — from full-length dance performances to behind-the-scenes profiles of various artists. The length of the content will also vary, as Dance Arts will place an equal emphasis on long- and short-form programming.

Similar to other interest- and genre-specific video channels launched by TV4, the Dance Arts Network will be available across multiple distribution outlets, including Amazon, Hulu, Roku, Net2TV, and YouTube.

“Our networks target deeply passionate audiences, with worldwide potential, that are poorly served by traditional television, and dance and performing arts genres fit squarely into our mandate,” said TV4 Entertainment founder and CEO Jon Cody in a statement. Cody was the launch GM of Hulu. Since founding TV4 Entertainment, he has led the rollout of channels like DocCom TV (for documentary lovers) and the All Warrior Network (military-themed content), which offer filmmakers a new monetization stream on digital platforms while also presenting a channel structure they are already familiar with.

Copeland International Arts was founded by Miles A. Copeland III, a music industry veteran who has managed the likes of The Police, Sting, and Bangles, and founded IRS Records.
