TV4 and GlobalGirl Launch Girls-Themed Digital Channel
TV4 Entertainment has partnered with GlobalGirl Media, an organization that promotes the empowerment of girls through various content and social initiatives, to launch a new girls-focused digital channel. The GlobalGirl Media Network, which goes live on October 11 — “International Day of the Girl” — will provide a mix of original and acquired video content produced by, for, and about girls and young women.
At launch, GGMN will feature programming such as “Gimme Mo,” a teen talk show hosted by Monique Coleman of “High School Musical” fame; a GGM-produced report called “Rapping in Rabat,” which talks about the growing number of young women in Morocco breaking into the male-dominated local rap music scene; and the GGM original series “Como Amar,” which explores local LA issues relating to girls’ reproductive rights and health.
The short film “In the Morning,” which screened at Sundance, will also be made available.
Going forward, TV4 and GGM will look actively look to acquire content to feature on the channel.
Following the TV4 “super-distribution” model, GGMN will be available via a dedicated website, as well as across multiple digital video outlets including YouTube, Hulu, Amazon Instant Video, and Roku.
This is the ninth digital channel from TV4, which specializes in launching genre- and interest-specific video channels across the web. Previous launches include the combat sports-oriented Undisputed Champion Network, the military-themed All Warrior Network, and the documentary-focused DocComTV.
TV4’s founder and CEO is Jon Cody, who previously served as the launch GM of Hulu.
