Uproxx Launches First Daily Series, ‘The Desk’

Uproxx, the entertainment and pop-culture news site owned by Woven Digital, has launched its first daily news series.

Called “The Desk,” the program will cover the biggest trending web and pop culture stories of the day, often by bringing in commentary from a variety of guests and celebrities. The series will be taped starting at noon every weekday at Woven Studios in Culver City, and will air later that afternoon on Uproxx.com. Each episode will run 3-5 minutes.

This is the second original series from Woven produced for Uproxx. The first, a documentary program called “Luminaries,” spotlights young inventors who are trying to create innovative technologies to change their communities and the world. Premiering in January, “Luminaries” has been viewed by more than 8.4 million people since, according to Woven.

Woven is one of an increasing number of publishers who view original video programming as a key business and area of growth. The company raised $18 million last December to, in part, to build out its Woven Studios production unit and start creating and launching original series.
