Upwave’s Five, New Series Will Keep You Healthy
Upwave, TBS, Inc.’s new, digital entertainment brand, is launching five, fresh health-and-wellness series that hope to showcase the fun side of fitness. Available on both upwave’s website and YouTube, the shows will provide health resources to viewers in some novel ways.
For more details, here’s the platform’s new program slate:
“What’s In My Fridge”: Season two of “What’s In My Fridge” brings a new batch of innovative ways to improve diets and lifestyles. In each of the six episodes, a different star — Shaquille O’Neal and YouTube sensations Brittani Louise Taylor and Lewis Hilsenteger to name a few — takes viewers through their kitchen, pantry and fridge. Each video follows the show’s guests as they prepare their favorite dishes. And, new for this season, each episode features a different viewer challenge. Tune in to find out each celeb’s favorite fridge items, go-to healthy options, cheat meals and can’t-miss foods.
“#KnowIt”: With so many outlets and sources for wellness information, it can be hard to condense knowledge into meaningful bites. This new series provides viewers with trivia, facts and unexpected knowledge nuggets on health specifics, like caffeine, sleep and sugar. Think you know everything about sex? Think again. Launching in six installments, “#KnowIt” provides viewers with easy-to-digest content through upwave’s signature spunky style.
“We Are Champions”: Good sportsmanship doesn’t have to take place on the court or gridiron. “We Are Champions” is a hilarious, revealing journey into the heart of some of the most unique and wacky competitions across the country, from mullet tossing to shovel racing to cheese rolling. Host Dave Lingwood of MTV’s “The Buried Life,” takes on a different challenger in each episode as part of his quest to be crowned unofficial world champion. Along the way, Lingwood will receive advice from actual world champions and show viewers what it means to be a true victor.
“How We Work,” launches in summer 2014. Hosted by upwave contributor, New York Times bestseller, NPR commentator, Mental Floss columnist, and Esquire editor-at-large A.J. Jacobs, “How We Work” takes a look inside the human body through an innovative use of animation, creative visual tricks and lo-fi production design. As A.J. explores the basics of health science topics like sleep, breathing and caffeine, viewers learn not only how things work but also why these incredible functions came into being—and how we can harness and improve them to better ourselves.
“upList” gives viewers resources to live better lives by curating, crowdsourcing and compiling the most helpful, innovative and intuitive aspects of lifestyle design.
