Valiant and CineFix Join Forces to Release ‘Unity #1’ 8-Bit Animated Short
In 2012, entertainment company Valiant relaunched its comic book line, which was met by resounding critical success. Valiant’s relaunch of books like “X-O Manowar” and “Bloodshot” were praised due to their all-star teams of writers and artists as well as the comic line’s innovative marketing strategies. One such strategy was Valiant’s use of interactive comic covers.
Today, Valiant announced a partnership with YouTube channel CineFix to release the first fully animated comic book cover for “Unity #1.” The cover, which can be unlocked via a QR code, will direct users to a CineFix “8-Bit Cinema” animated short featuring Unity team members Eternal Warrior, Ninjak, Livewire, Toyo Harada, and X-O Manowar.
The variant cover will feature a traditional 2D cover rendered in 8-bit style and will require a smartphones with QR reading capabilities to access the animated short.
YouTube channel CineFix has developed numerous 8-bit animated shorts based on films such as “Blade Runner” and “The Dark Knight.”
“Unity #1” is the latest in the Valiant line of comics. The new series will be written by the very talented Matt Kindt (“Mind MGMT”) and illustrated by Doug Braithwaite (“Journey into Mystery”).
