Vimeo App Lands on Indie Video Game Console Ouya
Vimeo has landed on the Android-powered microconsole Ouya. The gaming console rolled out earlier this year after a massively successful Kickstarter funded its production and development. Created by developer Boxer8, Ouya comes outfitted with its own marketplace filled with not only console-exclusive games, but also media apps like Twitch and XBMC Media Center, which is where Vimeo steps in.
The streaming site’s video app is now appearing on the $99 console’s digital marketplace. It also seems that Vimeo is working exclusively with Boxer8 as Ouya’s video partner. All video content on the Ouya developer pages is now hosted by Vimeo. Being a console that supports independent game development, Ouya developer pages showcase behind-the-scenes video clips, trailers, and other information about new titles.
In addition to Ouya compatibility, Vimeo has been making strides in the mobile app landscape. Earlier this year, the video site rolled out one of the first video apps that allowed for offline viewing.Tags: Android, gaming, Ouya, Vimeo
