Vimeo Nabs Day-and-Date Releases for Four Entertainment One Films
Entertainment One has cut a distribution deal with Vimeo that includes the day-and-date of four feature-length films this fall.
Announced by both companies at the Toronto International Film Festival, the partnership will kick off with the North American release of Claudia Meyers’ “Fort Bliss” on September 19, followed by “Catch Hell” on October 10, “The Culture High” on October 17, and “A Merry Friggin’ Christmas” (starring the late, great Robin Williams) on November 7.
Thanks to a separate deal with the filmmakers behind “The Culture High,” Vimeo will also handle the worldwide release of the documentary.
These films will be made available for purchase or rental on Vimeo On Demand, timed to the theatrical release.
Additionally, the deal also gives Vimeo access to Entertainment One’s library of over 35,000 films and TV shows. Various titles from the library will be available on Vimeo On Demand on a rolling basis.
Here’s more information on the aforementioned four titles:
“Fort Bliss”: Directed by Claudia Myers and staring Michelle Monaghan (“True Detective”), Fort Bliss is a feature narrative following decorated Army medic and single mother (Monaghan) as she returns home from an extended tour in Afghanistan to discover that she must now find a way to reconcile her duties as a mother and her obligations as a soldier.
“Catch Hell”: Starring Ryan Phillippe in his directorial debut, “Catch Hell” is a suspense thriller that follows former Hollywood star Reagon Pearce (Phillippe) as he is kidnapped by thugs on the way to work in Shreveport, Louisiana. Trapped in a swamp hut, his kidnappers torture and blackmail him, hijacking his twitter account and threatening to upload compromising material.
“The Culture High”: A new feature documentary from the makers of “The Union: The Business Behind Getting High,” “The Culture High” is the riveting story that tears into the very fiber of modern day marijuana debate to reveal the truth behind the arguments and motives governing both those who support and oppose the existing pot laws and includes celebrity commentary from the likes of Snoop Dogg and Sir Richard Branson.
“A Merry Friggin’ Christmas”: An American comedy starring Joel McHale, Lauren Graham, and the late Robin Williams. Boyd Mitchler (McHale) and his family are forced to spend a dreaded Christmas at his parents’ house with his eccentric father whom he has been avoiding for years. When he realizes that he left his son’s gifts at home, Boyd and his father must hit the road in a blizzard to retrieve the gifts before sunrise to save Christmas.
Beyond the Entertainment One partnership, Vimeo is also announcing the launch of the Short Cuts channel, which will be dedicated to streaming short films screened at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival.Tags: a merry friggin' christmas, catch hell, Documentary, Entertainment One, feature films, fort bliss, the culture high, Toronto International Film Festival, Vimeo, Vimeo On Demand
