Vimeo Nabs Exclusive Rights to Sundance-Winning Docu-Film ‘Return to Homs’
Vimeo has inked a deal with Journeyman Pictures for the exclusive release of the Sundance-winning documentary “Return to Homs” on Vimeo On Demand.
Directed by Talal Derki, the film, which won the Sundance World Cinema Jury Prize earlier this year, follows a 19-year-old Abdul Basset as he and his group of comrades fight to protect the inhabitants of the besieged city of Homs, Syria. As one of the unlikely leaders of the Syrian rebellion, Basset has become one of the faces in the fight against Assad’s regime.
“Return to Homs” will be available on Vimeo for $3.99 (to rent) or $13.99 (to download) in October. Vimeo’s exclusivity will be for a limited time, as the film will expand to iTunes, Google Play, and Amazon Instant Video in November. The wider digital release is being handled by The Orchard.
In December, “Return to Homs” will go live on Netflix in North America.
“Return to Homs” is a Proaction Film and Ventana Films production. Producers include Hans Robert Eisenhaur (“Why We Fight”) and Orwa Nyrabia (“Silvered Water”).Tags: Documentary Film, Return to Homs, Sundance Film Festival, The Orchard, Vimeo, Vimeo On Demand
