Vimeo Sets Premiere Date for First Funded Series, ‘High Maintenance’
Vimeo’s first foray into funding original programming, a new crop of episodes of the independent comedy series “High Maintenance,” will debut on the streaming platform on November 11.
Created by married couple Katja Blichfeld and Ben Sinclair, “High Maintenance” follows a nameless cannabis dealer (Sinclair) in New York City, whose neuroses are as diverse as the city he lives in. In addition to starring in it, Sinclair writes, directs, and edits every episode alongside Blichfeld.
Blichfeld is an Emmy-winning casting director for “30 Rock,” while Sinclair has served as an actor and/or editor for multiple shows including “30 Rock” and “The Big C.”
The series has been critically recognized by outlets such as The New Yorker, The New York Times, and The Guardian. The original 13 episodes, which debuted on Vimeo in 2012, included appearances from Dan Stevens (“Downton Abbey”) and Hannibal Buress (“Broad City”).
Earlier this year, Vimeo decided to fund an additional six episodes, with plans to sell them directly via its Vimeo On Demand platform. (As indicated by the image above, “Orange Is the New Black” star Yael Stone will appear in an episode.)
As of now, three episodes will be made available for purchase on the 11th, followed by the remaining three in early 2015. Pricing has not yet been determined by Vimeo.
