VOD Network Kabillion Inks YouTube Deal with Base79
Kabillion, a free on-demand channel focused on kids’ programming in the US, has inked a deal with UK-based MCN Base79 to expand its presence internationally and produce original content for its YouTube channel.
The Kabillion channel on YouTube, which currently reaches more than 15,000 subscribers, features a variety of animated and live-action kids programming, from TV-length titles to various short-form content.
Per the deal with Base79, the MCN will now oversee Kabillion’s presence on YouTube, covering rights management, audience development, and ad sales on the site.
The two companies will also work together to launch new original programming initiatives for YouTube. This includes collaborations with creators across Base79’s network, which spans more than 850 creators and 1,500 channels. Kabillion says it’s set to produce live-action content featuring a roster of kid-friendly hosts and characters, in addition to interstitial content exclusively for YouTube based on its animated titles.
The Kabillion channel will also host clips from Kabillion animated series like “Chloe’s Closets,” “Hero 108,” and “Sabrina, Secrets of a Teenage Witch.”
“We’re producing and delivering online content that coincides with our network’s mission to celebrate the independence of being a kid and to find fun and entertainment wherever and whenever you want,” said Nicolas Atlan, president of Kabillion.
Kabillion, which is a subsidiary of Splash Entertainment and claims a VOD reach of more than 45 million homes in the US, is no stranger to working with MCNs. Last year, the company pacted with Maker Studios to distribute titles to Maker’s animated YouTube channel, Cartoonium.
Kabillion’s YouTube channel is a direct result of a partnership between the company and YouTube.Tags: Animation, Base79, Cartoonium, Kabillion, kids programming, maker studios, MCN
