Chipotle to Satirize Industrial Agriculture in New Hulu Series

Chipotle is launching an original comedy series on Hulu that satirizes the world of industrial agriculture in America. The series, “Farmed and Dangerous,” will premiere on February 17. Spanning four half-hour episodes, the first season will be distributed on a weekly basis on Hulu and Hulu Plus. 


Netflix Gears Up to Expand in Europe

As streaming-video juggernaut Netflix Inc. plots an expansion in Europe, media companies across the continent are girding for battle. The U.S.-based online video service has started discussions with American entertainment companies about licensing the rights to popular Hollywood content in France and Germany, among other European countries, according to people familiar with the matter.


Amazon Prime Adds ‘Hannibal’ Season 1, Which NBC Hopes Will Fire Up Season 2 Ratings Prime Instant Video customers will have one month to binge-watch the first season of NBC’s crime drama “Hannibal” — a windowing strategy the Peacock bets will whet appetites for the second run’s Feb. 28premiere.

Italy’s Istituto Luce-Cinecittà Pacts With Emerging Pictures on ‘Cinema Made In Italy’

New York-based digital distribution network Emerging Pictures and Italy’s film promotional org. Istituto Luce-Cinecittà have partnered on “Cinema Made In Italy,” which will provide U.S. digital distribution and marketing support to five high-profile Italian titles, starting with Paolo Sorrentino’s foreign-language Oscar contender “The Great Beauty,” (pictured) which is already on release stateside via Janus Films.


TiVo to Buy Content-Recommendations Firm Digitalsmiths for $135 Million

TiVo plans to acquire Digitalsmiths, a provider of TV and movie content discovery and recommendation services, for $135 million in cash. Digitalsmiths offers personalized video search, recommendations and browsing, social trending, and mood-based discovery across multiple devices.


Louis C.K. to Release His 15-Year-Old First Film Online

Louis C.K., no stranger to digital releases, will unveil his first feature film ever, “Tomorrow Night,” on Wednesday at noon EST on his website.
