Judge Says Hulu Might Have Violated Video Privacy Law

In a mixed decision, a federal judge ruled on Monday that online video company Hulu potentially violated a video privacy law by sharing information about users with Facebook. But U.S. Magistrate Judge Laurel Beeler in San Francisco also ruled that the company didn’t violate users’ privacy by transmitting “anonymous” information about the movies they watched to comScore.

DramaFever Snags Spanish Miniseries ‘The Time in Between’

DramaFever is bringing Spanish television hit The Time In Between to American audiences for the first time. The streaming service announced Tuesday during Digital Content NewFronts that it has signed an exclusive licensing deal for the 11-episode miniseries. The Time In Between will debut July 4 on DramaFever with English subtitles. It will also be syndicated on through DramaFever partner Hulu.

Endemol Beyond USA Signs Deal with ‘Sopranos’ Drea de Matteo

Endemol Beyond USA, a channel affiliate of Endemol North America, inked a deal with Emmy-award winning actress Drea de Matteo to work on the development, production, and distribution of an original online series, “The Muthaship Starring Drea de Matteo.” Directed by Carter B. Smith of “Skate Maps,” it will launch as an Endemol Beyond USA original series this Spring.



Vine Superstars Signed to AwesomenessTV

AwesomenessTV signed two of Vine’s superstars to its network. Nash Grier and Cameron Dallas will now be able to create outside of Vine’s six-second parameters, said Awesomeness founder and CEO Brian Robbins. Grier and Dallas will also be making a movie with Robbins, who previously worked on films with YouTube star FRED, the result of which served as inspiration for AwesomenessTV to begin with, according to the founder.



CTV Extend Marks New Online Hub for Original Series

CTV of Bell Media just launched CTV Extend, a new hub for digital media that grants consumers access to original and acquired online content. Starting off with over 10 series and an overall 120 episodes, the media company will receive its funding from ad revenue to keep viewers from having to pay for content.
