YouTube numbers are off the charts for @SummerBreak, a digital video series that has existed solely on social media channels. While tapping millennial YouTube influencers Ricky Dillon, Kian Lawley, Jenn McAllister, Andrea Russett and Alexis Zall, five-to-10-minute episodes have been posted on Tuesdays and Thursdays while a 20-minute installment has gone live every Sunday. The AT&T-branded @SummerBreak storyline entails a group of smartphone-tethered teenagers as they spend their last summer together and get ready for college life.

Dell Taps Defy Media for Back-To-School Campaign Uses YouTube influencers to spread the message to students

Dell is working with digital media production company Defy Media to encourage teens and college kids to use its products when they head back to the classroom this fall. Working with Defy’s musical duo Kurt Hugo Schneider and Sam Tsui and pranksters SMOSH, the companies and online producers have come up with separate customized campaigns that will play on each YouTube influencers’ strengths while still delivering the brand message. Schneider and Tsui’s Dell-sponsored music video and behind-the-scenes video employ Dell tablets as an artistic tool.
