Xbox Entertainment Studios Starts Testing Interactive Projects
If you attended Microsoft’s Newfront, or read our coverage of it, then you already know that Xbox Entertainment Studios has made it pretty clear that interactivity is at the crux of most of its programming slate. And why shouldn’t it be? The Xbox console is built for interactivity, engagement and dynamic viewing experiences.
So it also shouldn’t come as a surprise that Xbox Entertainment Studios has moved into development on an interactive historical doc, being co-developed by Stephen David Entertainment. The working title is “13 Days of Blood.”
The installments, which is in the “earliest stages of development” according to Xbox PR, will reveal the birth of the world’s most formidable civilizations, with the first telling the less known story of the Roman Empire through the lens of Commodus, the ‘gladiator emperor’ who created 13 days of bloody ‘games’ in the Coliseum.
Xbox also tells us that the series will also “introduce a new, interactive technology that will bring fight scenes to life in a way never before seen in television.” Assuming what Xbox is doing with live concerts and integrating various camera angles, one guess is that the new technology will allow the viewer to choose the vantage point and depth of the visual experience of said “fight scenes.”
