Xbox and Ridley Scott Are Making Another ‘Halo’ Web Series
Microsoft plans to milk its “Halo” franchise for all its worth. The company’s Xbox Entertainment Studios division is developing a new web series based on the popular video game property.
This show would different from the live-action “Halo” TV show that is being executive produced by Steven Spielberg for Xbox. This web series, which does not have a title and many details to go on, is being developed by Xbox Entertainment Studios, 343 Industries, and acclaimed filmmaker Ridley Scott’s Scott Free Productions.
Format-wise, the plan is to create this new show in a fashion similar to “Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn,” a Microsoft Studios-produced live-action web series that aired on Machinima in 2012. The series will be structured in a way that it can also be repackaged into a feature-length film.
The new project will be executive produced by Ridley Scott and Scott Free’s TV president David Zucker. Sergio Mimica-Gezzan (“Heroes” and “Battlestar Galactica”), who’s also served as assistant director on many Spielberg films, has been brought on to direct. “Prison Break” creator Paul Scheuring might be asked to write the project, according to TheWrap.
Microsoft is expected to divulge more details at E3 in June.Tags: 343 productions, david zucker, Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn, Machinima, Ridley Scott, scott free productions, Steven Spielberg, Xbox, Xbox Entertainment Studios
