Yahoo and NBC to Create ‘Digital Olympics Daily Show’ for Sochi Games
With the XXII Olympic Winter Games on the horizon, the Yahoo and NBC Sports are extending their sports content partnership to include coverage of the Sochi Games.
While there are not a lot of details to go on at the moment, Yahoo says it will team up with NBC Sports to create a “digital Olympics daily show,” which will be available via Yahoo Sports. Other elements of the deal include access for Yahoo’s audience to all of NBCOlympics.com’s exclusive digital video content, including live competition streams and on-demand highlights. Yahoo Sports’ content teams will also regularly contribute Olympics news and analysis for both NBCOlympics.com and Yahoo.
On the broadcast side, Yahoo products like Flickr, Tumblr, and Search will be integrated into NBC’s broadcast coverage during the Games.
Yahoo Sports’ deal with NBC Sports is similar in a way to the arrangement sister property Yahoo News has with ABC News. The Yahoo-ABC News Network, which reached 77 million uniques in November (comScore data), also provides sports video content by way of “SportsCenter” clips on ABCNews.com (ESPN and ABC are both owned by Disney).
NBC has exclusive rights to the Sochi Games, which will take place from February 7-23.Tags: ABC News, espn, NBC Sports, NBCUniversal, Olympics, Sochi Games, Sports, Sportscenter, Yahoo News, Yahoo Sports, Yahoo!
