Yahoo Might Save Another Ratings-Starved TV Comedy (Report)
Just two weeks after announcing that it would revive NBC’s “Community” for a sixth season, Yahoo may have its eyes set on reviving another ratings-starved cult comedy TV show.
As first reported by Deadline, the digital media company is now in talks with 20th Century Fox for a second season of “Enlisted,” a military comedy that aired on Fox this past spring.
Created by Kevin Beigel, “Enlisted” follows the adventures of three brothers and other enlisted misfit soldiers at a US Army base in Florida. Stars include Geoff Stults, Chris Lowell, and Parker Young. Ordered by Fox for a 13-episode first season, “Enlisted” struggled to reach a large audience, and was shelved to Friday nights on the broadcast network.
But with enough of a cult audience behind the show, it might come back on Yahoo Screen — though talks are still very much in the preliminary stages, according to the report.
For its part, 20th Century Fox is no stranger to resurrecting critically acclaimed comedies online. The company pretty much began the trend when it partnered with Netflix on a new season of “Arrested Development.”Tags: 20th Century Fox, Community, Enlisted, Fox, nbc, Yahoo!, Yahoo! Screen
