Young Hollywood Debuts on Apple TV with Exclusive, Long-Form Content
Celebrity video network Young Hollywood has launched a new app focused on long-form content exclusively on the Apple TV.
The new app, which is available for free to all owners of the set-top box, will premiere seven new original half-hour series this month, collectively accounting for more than 100 episodes of new content.
The move is part of Young Hollywood’s previously announced strategy to produce more long-form programming for its audience of millennials. Last fall, Young Hollywood said it would launch an over-the-top video network — scheduled for early 2015 — that would feature more long-form programming and specials. The Apple TV app is the first part of that OTT strategy, with the set-top having exclusivity on it for a few months not unlike what HBO is doing with its soon-to-launch HBO Now app.
After the initial launch, Apple TV will remain the exclusive home to new long-form series from Young Hollywood. This includes the launch of a new weekly flagship news show called “Young Hollywood Now.”
Young Hollywood also plans to expand its focus beyond celebrity interviews and news, the company said. It will be developing original programming across multiple genres and formats, including reality, scripted, animation, and various specials and documentaries.
The Apple TV app will also offer on-demand content from the Young Hollywood library, including more than 2,500 hours of interviews shot from the company’s studio inside the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles and on-site at various tentpole entertainment events across the world.Tags: Apple, apple tv, connected TV, OTT, young hollywood
