DCNF: DanceOn Preps Two New Series from Nigel Lythgoe
YouTube dance entertainment network, DanceOn plans to launch two new shows in the coming year. Both created by “So You Think You Can Dance” executive producer Nigel Lythgoe, the reality shows are called “Dance School Diaries” and “Every Single Step.”
“Dance School Diaries” will follow four adolescents and their families as they struggle through the world’s most prestigious ballet competition, the Youth America Grand Prix. From classrooms to auditions, viewers will get a comprehensive look at the cutthroat experience of competitive ballet for today’s young adults.
“Every Last Step,” meanwhile, takes a different approach to competitive dance. Via the reality competition format, the show will challenge eight choreographers to fight for the right to be called “Choreographer of the Year,” as well as the opportunity to work alongside leading names in the industry.
DanceOn was founded in 2010 by CEO Amanda Taylor. Since its creation, the network has generated more than 1.7 billion views on YouTube. Flagship shows on the DanceOn channel include “Dance Showdown,” which pairs YouTubers with choreographers for a chance to win cash prizes, and “The Edge,” which profiles popular musicians and the dancers who perform with them.
