Zype Launches to Help Video Owners Build Digital Channels

zype has new distribution partner

A new startup that wants to help video creators and distributors build owned-and-operated destinations across platforms is launching out of beta.

Called Zype, the cloud-based service enables video owners to quickly build websites and mobile apps and monetize them via advertising and subscriptions.

Zype Dashboard

Currently, the solution allows clients to import videos from YouTube, Hulu, and Crunchyroll, as well as upload clips natively using Zype’s own video player. Support for additional video players will be added on an ongoing basis.

Zype Backend

A “plug-and-play” solution intended for premium video creators, publishers, and multi-channel networks, Zype is launching with partnerships with Konami’s 4K Media Inc. and Digital Media Rights.

4K Media used Zype to build a destination for its “Yu-Gi-Oh” animated series. Since launch, YuGiOh.com has grown its audience by 30% month over month, the companies said. Compared to the property’s other video channels, the site has seen a 23% uptick in video consumption within the first three months of its launch.

Meanwhile, Digital Media Rights, agreed to use Zype to build a direct-to-consumer offering for select titles within its library, including “Tales from the Dark (Part 1),” “Night of the Living Dead: Reanimated,” and “Princess Sakura.” The site is called “Midnight Pulp,” and will focus on genre content. It’s available for free (but with ads), or a $5 monthly subscription (which removes ads). The subscription option also offers access to director’s cuts and other bonus features for select titles.
