SXSW: Zype Wins Entertainment Accelerator Prize
Zype, a New York-based startup that wants to help video creators launch owned-and-operated sites and apps, took home one of the grand prizes awarded by the annual SXSW Accelerator startup competition.
The company was one of six winners, nabbing the award for the Entertainment and Content Technologies category. As part of the grand prize package, Zype received $4,000, a couple of badges for next year’s SXSW Interactive conference, and various sponsor gifts and associated perks.
Launched out of beta last December, Zype offers a cloud-based service that makes it easy for video creators of all types to build websites and mobile apps, and then monetize them via advertising and subscriptions. Its “plug-and-play” solution offers a Zype-built video player, as well as the ability to import clips from YouTube, Hulu, and Crunchyroll.
Zype was one of 500 companies that submitted for the Accelerator competition, which takes place at SXSW Interactive’s Startup Village and allows finalists to pitch their products and services to a panel comprised of industry experts and entrepreneurs, in front of a live audience.Tags: SXSW, SXSW 2015, Zype
