Reviewed! Video Editing and Remixing Made ‘Sympler’
So you have all these silly moments recorded on your phone, now what? Wouldn’t it be great if there was an app to combine all those video clips and add some music to them?
As a matter of fact, there is; it’s the idea behind Sympler, a new video-remix app that’s available for free on iOS devices. The app, which launched on July 15, allows users to “remix” their personal videos as well as content created by other people — for example a scene from their favorite show — along with one song.
Once created, you can share the video directly to the Sympler gallery. You can also follow your favorite remixers and comment or like on their videos. The app keeps track of how many mixes you have created as well as the number of people following you.
After hours of browsing through other remixes in order to get some inspiration, it was time to make my own.
My video-editing skills are not the best, compared to the remixes done by other users. But if you’re like me, don’t get intimidated; the interface is easy to understand and importing your videos is incredibly fast. Sympler lets you select which parts of the video you want to use, instead of just adding background music to a video.
The fun really begins when you start trying to pair the perfect moment with the right song song. Until you’re satisfied, you can preview what the final clip would look like as many times as you want. And if you don’t think your finished product is worthy of being seen by others, Sympler offers an option to set videos to private.
But let’s say you do have cool clip that you’re proud of. After rendering the final video, Sympler gives you the option to share it on all your social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, Twitter, YouTube, and even via email. The entire process is remarkably easy, and as long as you’re not the indecisive type, fast.
One thing to take into consideration is that Sympler does not provide any filters, so if you want to give your videos the Andy Warhol effect you might want to consider other apps before importing your video. Word of advice: Set your profile photo while you are creating your account, because I made the mistake if not doing so, and up to this point I have not figured out how to change it.
Overall the app is user-friendly and doesn’t require hours of tutorials. If you’re not a pro at editing video, but want to make cool clips with the right music on the soundtrack, then this app is worth a look.Tags: iOS, Mobile Apps, mobile video, Sympler, video app
