Crowdfunding platform Indiegogo has unveiled Indiegogo Outpost, a new service to help users raise money in two places at once.
At the same time, users will also keep a mirrored campaign on Indiegogo.com, retaining access to Indiegogo’s marketing channels and analytics.
Other features of Outpost include the ability to integrate third-party services like Google Analytics, Kissmetrics, Mixpanel, and Facebook retargeting into the product.
Indiegogo says it plans to launch Outpost in the first quarter of 2014, and it will be free to activate.
Crowdfunding grew up in a big way in 2013, as filmmakers and YouTube creators of all sizes used it to help finance their projects. A product like Outpost could help move some market share away from Kickstarter and toward Indiegogo. Especially with creators like Freddie Wong, who used Kickstarter to finance the first two seasons of “Video Game High School,” and who has an owned-and-operated site at RocketJump.com. If Wong chooses to crowdfund any other big projects in the future, it’s not hard to see him liking the option of keeping his fans on his own website, instead of driving them to an external platform like Kickstarter.
