The Interactive Advertising Bureau has unveiled the initial lineup for the 2014 Digital Content Newfronts, and there are several new players in the field in addition to many of the mainstays from the past two years.
Outside of the Newfront “founding partners” — AOL, DigitasLBi, Google/YouTube, Hulu, Microsoft, and Yahoo — 15 other organizations are joining this year’s Newfront lineup, which has been expanded by the IAB from one week to nine days of official events and presentations.
New presenters include Maker Studios, BuzzFeed, The New York Times, National Geographic, Scripps Networks, Time Inc., Time Warner Cable, and Vice Media. These companies join the six founding partners as well as other returning presenters like Sony/Crackle, Conde Nast Entertainment, The Wall Street Journal, and VEVO. Popsugar, a provider of celebrity, fashion, and pop-culture content, is also returning to the Newfront slate after sitting out last year.
The IAB, which manages the Newfront calendar, says the list was determined by a variety of factors, including rankings from comScore and Nielsen as well as a survey conducted by the IAB among “leading agency media buyers.” This short-list was further pared down by a Newfront Advisory Board, which consisted of top execs from agencies like Universal McCann, Havas Media, GroupM, Starcom, DigitasLBi, Horizon Media, and OMD.
The full schedule is listed below, though the IAB takes time to note that additional presenters might be added to the lineup before all is said and done.
