Peter Naylor, a former top digital sales exec at NBCUniversal, is joining Hulu as the video company’s new senior vice president of sales.
During his time at NBCU, Naylor worked across several categories including news, sports, and entertainment. Most recently, he served as the EVP of ad sales for NBC News Digital. Outside of NBCU, Naylor has spent time on the board of directors at the Interactive Advertising Bureau, and currently sits on the board at LiveRail, a video ad/monetization company serving digital publishers.
Being that Naylor used to work for one of Hulu’s current owners, he has some pre-existing ties to the company. Specifically, Naylor assisted in “the process of identifying Hulu’s charter advertisers” during the company’s early days, according to current Hulu CEO Mike Hopkins.
Naylor begins at Hulu next week. As a result of his hiring, interim head of sales Jim O’Donnell, who will report to Naylor, is now the VP of West Coast sales and ad sales operations.
In the same note that announced Naylor’s hire, Hopkins notes that Hulu’s sales team is already “above target” for the quarter.
