The latest episode of “Epic Meal Time” has maybe the series’ biggest guest — The Terminator himself, Arnold Schwarzenegger.
The former California Governor’s appearance on the popular online cooking show is tied to a campaign Harley Morenstein has launched to support Schwarzenegger’s charity, After School All-Stars.
Set-up on Omaze, an online platform that raises funds for charities by giving users the opportunity to hang out with their favorite celebrities, the “Make an Epic Meal with Harley” campaign will give a winner and a guest the chance to cook a meal with Morenstein and Schwarzenegger and appear in a future video of “Epic Meal Time.” Donations begin at $10, which enters the individual into the contest. There’s also a merchandising element — for bigger donations, users will receive exclusive and limited-edition “Epic Meal Time”-themed perks. All funds go to support After School All-Stars, which was launched by Schwarzenegger in 1992 to support and fund after-school programs.
The campaign runs until March 14, with the second video, featuring the winner, his guest, Morenstein, and Schwarzenegger, being shot on March 19.
Morenstein and the “Epic Meal Time” crew have been teasing Schwarzenegger’s guest appearance for a few weeks now. In the episode, the duo cook a massive “steak and eggers” sandwich, because you can never get enough protein.
According to Eric White at Collective Digital Studio, Omaze came to the MCN to discuss working with Morenstein for a campaign tied to Schwarzenegger’s charity. Morenstein and Arnold have a little bit of a history as the duo appeared in a video as part of YouTube Comedy Week last year.
As part of the campaign, Morenstein is also doing a Reddit AMA later today, beginning at 4pm ET.
Morenstein also published a post on his own channel talking about the partnership with Schwarzenegger and the Omaze campaign in support of After School All-Stars, which you can check out here (embedding is disabled on both videos).
