Earlier this fall, distributor Shout Factory made 80 episodes of the cult comedy series “Mystery Science Theater 3000” available for purchase on Vimeo. Now, just in time for the Thanksgiving holiday, the company is releasing a few more.
Three newly cleared episodes of “Mystery Science Theater 3000,” which became a fan-favorite for skewering terrible movies most people had never heard of, are now available for purchase or rental on Vimeo On Demand.
The episodes focus on the following three movies: “Jungle Goddess,” a tale of two pilots in search of a missing heiress and her father’s reward money; “The Painted Hills,” which is based on a novel about the followers of a kind prosecutor who try to avenge his murder; and “The Screaming Skull,” a movie about a neurotic woman who is driven to distraction and destruction by the ghost of her new husband’s previous wife.
Individual titles can be purchased for $9.99 or rented for $2.99. For those obsessed with the MST3K brand, the entire library of 80+ episodes is available for $300. Those who purchase the full library will receive any additional episodes cleared between now and September 15, 2015 for free.
“Mystery Science Theater 3000,” which debuted in 1988 and spanned 198 total episodes across a decade, was created by Joel Hodgson. The series itself follows a motley crew of one human and his two robot sidekicks who are forced to watch some of the worst B-movies ever made, while providing commentary.
