As Facebook has become more involved in video, the company wants you to know just how involved its gotten. The social network slash “video platform” recently shared some stats indicating a big increase in the number of user-generated videos on the platform.
Per Facebook’s research, video posts went up by 75% worldwide in the past year, while they’ve increased by a whopping 94% in the US alone.
This has definitely changed the look of Facebook’s news feed. Where you used to see status updates and comments, video is steadily taking over, as the number of branded and social video content has gone up 3.6 times year-over-year.
Furthermore, Facebook wants to point out that users are coming to the platform and discovering many videos there for the first time — 76% of American users surveyed said they do, at any rate. The company reports that overall, about 1 billion video views happen on Facebook each day, with 65% taking place on mobile devices.
