Many YouTubers are signing book deals, part of a larger trend among online video creators to diversify their revenue streams beyond the walls of YouTube.
The latest to join the flock: Teenager Jenn McAllister, who goes by the name JennXPenn on YouTube. Scholastic has acquired worldwide rights to the 18-year-old’s upcoming book, “Really Professional Internet Person,” which is described as “a personal and funny guide to creating successful online content and handling the pressure of internet fame.”
“Really Professional Internet Person” will feature top-ten lists — one of the things McAllister is known for on YouTube — in addition to photos, screenshots, social media posts, and exclusive stories that chronicle the teenager’s rise to YouTube stardom. Available in both paperback and ebook formats at the listed price of $14.95, the book will be released this September.
McAllister has more than 2.3 million subscribers across three YouTube channels, and is networked on the video site with AwesomenessTV. Her larger social following includes 969,000 followers on Twitter and close to 450,000 fans on Facebook.
The star just wrapped her first feature film, “Bad Night,” which also stars Casey Wilson (“Marry Me”), Adam Pally (“Happy Endings”), and Matt Walsh.
