7Up will sponsor Yahoo’s exclusive live stream of the Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas. 7Up will present the stream, which will take place from 8:30pm to 5:30am PT each night starting June 19 and ending on June 21. A rebroadcast will immediately follow each stream of the music festival. The Electric Daisy Carnival takes place across the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and includes around 500 performers, including Moby, Tiesto, and Kaskade. You can find the live stream on Yahoo.com/EDC.
GE now has a virtual reality channel on Samsung’s Milk VR. Called Sci Tech, it will only be on Milk VR and available to anyone who has it. The channel will feature some original content focused on science and technology (no kidding). VR videos will come from third parties in addition to GE’s R&D labs. In addition, “GE 360” will give viewers a live action look at the making of its Evolution Series Tier 4 Locomotive and its 9HA Gas Turbine with creator-in-residence Sally Le Page.
Chromecast users can now stream CBS Sports app and CBSSports.com through the Google product. This content includes advice for fantasy sports players (in “Fantasy Baseball Today,” “Fantasy Football Today,” and “Daily Fantasy Live”) along with more traditional sports programming. Users can cast through both the iOS and Android versions of the CBS Sports app to their connected TVs. The app so far is available on Roku, Apple TV, and Android TV. Live-streaming sporting events through CBS will become available via Chromecast later, at which time the company will provide a schedule of the live games.
“Bad Night,” a feature film starring YouTubers Jenn McAllister and Lauren Elizabeth Luthringshausen, has a premiere date — July 21. From GRB Entertainment, the film will be released via Vimeo on Demand. “Bad Night” was written by Daniel Kinno and directed by Chris and Nick Riedell (the creators of YouTuber-starring “Camp Takota”), while Luthringshausen and McAllister produced alongside A. J. Tesler. Additional cast members include “traditional” movie and TV talent like Molly Ringwald, Casey Wilson, Adam Pally, and Matt Walsh.
“War Machine,” the feature film that stars Brad Pitt and comes from his production company, Plan B, seemed like a major get for Netflix. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it really was — the film cost $60 million for Netflix to get ahold of it. This is compared to, for example, the $12 million the streaming giant shelled out for “Beast of No Nation,” starring Edris Elba. “War Machine” focuses on a general who becomes a commander (Pitt) in the American war in Afghanistan. Pitt worked on the film with writer/director David Michôd. It will come to Netflix and certain theaters in 2016.
“@SummerBreak,” a transmedia series focused on West Coast high school kids, is entering its third season on YouTube…and other social media platforms, which, for the first time, include Periscope. Debuting June 21, the series will let viewers interact with cast members (and experience additional content) through Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Vine, and now Periscope, where viewers can watch select, live-streaming content. “@SummerBreak” is produced by The Chernin Group with Fullscreen and Astronauts Wanted.
Ad agency Ayzenberg’s Influencer Outreach Network (ION) has added three, new senior members to its team, Siobhan O’Neill, Matt West, and Steven Lai. Both O’Neill and West will serve as lead creative strategists at ION. She comes from leading integrated marketing development and digital crisis management strategies at Edelman Digital for clients including Nestle and Microsoft. West formerly lead the digital companion content to the Fox series “American Idol.” Meanwhile, Lai will develop branded partnerships at ION. He comes from Machinima, where he worked on partner relations and branded initiatives.
