NBCUniversal Hispanic Group’s multi-platform content studio Fluency Productions announced today that it is partnering with Samsung and Toyota to create original video content for an online campaign to promote its new English-language sci-fi thriller “Reversion,” written and directed by Jose Nestor Marquez.
The film will debut in select theaters in Los Angeles, New York and Chicago on Oct. 9, then rollout over NBCU on-air networks (Syfy, Telemundo and NBC Universo) and mobile, web and VOD platforms. The film will be dubbed in Spanish for Telemundo and NBC Universo.
Samsung provided Fluency with smartphones and tablets that were integrated into key scenes throughout “Reversion.” It is also sponsoring exclusive, original video content and behind-the-scenes photos that will be available on Telemundo.com. The digital shorts are being shared by Hispanics Plus, the company’s cross-company targeting platform, to ensure they reach Hispanics across the entire NBCUniversal portfolio. Samsung previously partnered with Fluency on the latter’s first feature film “Isa,” which was also written and directed by Marquez.
Toyota is the exclusive automotive sponsor for “Reversion,” which will have the 2015 Camry and Highlander in many of its secens. In partnership with NBCUniversal Hispanic Group, Toyota developed custom video content featuring the film’s star, Jeanette Samano, in which she discusses her journey as an actress, her role in the film and her Hispanic heritage. The videos will reside on a dedicated Fandango Cine hub on Telemundo.com, with snackable videos also featured on Fandango Cine’s Facebook page. Toyota will also host the film’s premiere screening on Sept. 29 at the Downtown Independent Theatre in Los Angeles.
“The new movie distribution model presents Toyota with a perfect opportunity to not only engage our guests on many levels, from traditional to digital channels, but also integrates the 2015 Toyota Camry in fun and unexpected ways throughout the film,” said Dionne Colvin-Lovely, director traditional and new media for Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A., in a statement.
“Reversion” tells the story of Sophie Clé (Aja Naomi King), the head of marketing for the Oubli, a high-tech piece of jewelry invented by her father (Colm Feore) that uses neuroscience to help its users experience their most joyful memories as if they were happening for the first time. But her world is turned upside-down when, on the eve of the Oubli’s worldwide launch, Sophie is kidnapped by a stranger named Isa (Jeanette Samano).
A division of NBCUniversal Hispanic Group, Fluency Productions is a multi-format, multi-platform studio that creates premium content targeting multicultural millennial audiences.
