Video analytics firm Conviva has announced the launch of a new data platform that puts industry data front and center with public access to metrics.
The changing face of media consumption means that broadcasters are increasingly faced with the need to manage content distributed across a variety of linear and digital channels. Conviva’s new analytics platform aims to streamline the process of tracking monitoring, analyzing and optimizing the performance across multiple platforms and devices.
Conviva’s new platform not only tracks standard data points but also details relating to users watch experience. The firm hopes that their data will benefit not just specific clients but the online video industry as a whole. According to Dr. Hui Zhang, CEO of Conviva, “Every month, Conviva aggregates and anonymizes billions of streams of data in real time to help its customers provide optimized viewer experiences to maximize engagement. Providing public access to such QoE metrics is an industry first, which we believe will benefit businesses, analysts and consumer viewing audiences alike.”
The platform tracks diverse metrics including video startup times by region, average bitrate by device, and rebuffering ratio by content type allowing content providers to paint a bigger data picture than they would be able to using data from isolated platforms. These points also speak to user experience rather than just functionality allowing providers to reduce pain points and thereby increase engagement.
