Fans of Amazon’s flagship original series “Transparent” need wait no more for the premiere of the award winning show’s highly anticipated second season.
Amazon is debuting season two of its most buzzed about original series early, but only to Amazon Prime members in the United States. While everyone else will need to wait for the show’s official premiere date on Dec. 11 to catch up with the Pfefferman family, Prime members can catch the first episode of season 2 tonight beginning at 8 p.m. EST.
Series creator Jill Soloway tweeted the news this afternoon
Expectations are high for season 2 in the wake of Golden Globe and an Emmy wins for Jeffrey Tambor, who stars as Maura Pfefferman. Tambor returns for season two along with series regulars Judith Light, Amy Landecker, Jay Duplass and Gaby Hoffmann. The new season will also feature a raft guest stars including Oscar-winner Angelica Huston, Emmy-winner Cherry Jones, Kathryn Hahn, Rob Huebel, Carrie Brownstein, Alexandra Billings, Tig Notaro, Alex MacNicoll, Trace Lysette, Melora Hardin, Michaela Watkins, Emily Robinson and Bradley Whitford, the latter of whom won an Emmy for his guest role on the show.
It’s no mistake that the new season is making its limited debut on “cyber-Monday.” “Transparent” is far and away Amazon’s most critically acclaimed original series. Leveraging the buzz surrounding the hit show’s second season may allow the streamer to jog some memories just in time for the holiday shopping season and generate some fresh subscriptions.
