Digital lifestyle publisher Refinery29 has appointed Amy Emmerich as its Chief Content Officer.
Prior to her appointment, Emmerich served as Refinery29’s head of video, a role she has held since January of 2015. In that capacity, she has spearheaded the growth of Refinery29’s original and distributed video content programs including its participation in Snapchat’s Discover program, an enlarged slate of original videos, and its nascent video influencer partnerships. Emmerich joined Refinery29 from SNI, where she was SVP of programming for Ulive, the company’s video lifestyle brand. She has also held senior production and development roles at Vice Media and the Travel Channel.
In 2015, Refinery29’s total audience grew by nearly 200%, reaching 120 million monthly views across its various content platforms. During that period, it also took in in $50 million in investor capital from Scripps Network Interactive and WPP Ventures earmarked for fueling a global expansion of the company’s brand and content offering, much of which was spearheaded by Emmerich.
In her new role, Emmerich will oversee distribution and content strategy for Refinery29’s popular and rapidly globalizing media brand, steering a 150-person team developing content for its channels and platforms .
