Studio 71 announced today that it has signed Canadian digital influencers Sara Lynn Cauchon a.k.a. The Domestic Geek (648K subscribers, 36.5M views on YouTube) and Chef Matt Basile a.k.a. Fidel Gastro (136K subscribers on YouTube) to help launch its new food-focused vertical.
Studio71 has also partnered with Basile and his producer and partner, Kyla Zanardi, to launch a new 1500-square-foot kitchen production space in Toronto that will be open to talent, cooks, food entrepreneurs and digital creators looking to develop digital food content.
Like a food-focused YouTube Space, Studio71’s new cooking studio will offer creators and producers will have full access to in-house equipment and props, sets specifically tailored to their brand/shoot, as well as a staff that can production and editing support, food photography and recipe development.
“Working with food-focused digital talent, I saw that very few spaces and MCNs provided the resources and skills that many of the creators and brands I work with need,” said Kayla Zanardi. “Matt and I developed a physical space and offering that could be built to the needs of our ever-changing company and for creators looking to grow their digital food brand to the next level.”
In July, European media conglomerate ProSiebenSat.1 Group announced it was merging its Berlin-based multi-channel network Studio71 with L.A.-based Collective Digital Studio (CDS) to create a new global MCN dubbed Collective Studio71. But the two entities appeared to operate separately until last month’s announcement that they would henceforth be known as as Studio71.
Last April, CDS opened a Toronto office, headed by Jordan Bortolotti, which will now spearhead the Canadian culinary vertical under the Studio71 banner.
“Matt and Sara Lynn are two of the top food disruptors in the space and we’re thrilled to have them on our growing network,” said Jordan Bortolotti, EVP of Canada for Studio71. “We’ve had a great amount of success in other top consumer verticals such as comedy, beauty, music and family, and we see the same potential within the food space. We’re looking forward to signing more top creators and further expanding our footprint in this space.”
Studio71 oversees everything from merchandise to branded TV series, with clients that include such brands as Aeropostale, Coca-Cola, Dunkin Donuts, Estee Lauder, Nissan, Wendy’s and Verizon. Headquartered in Berlin and Los Angeles, it has offices in New York, Detroit, San Francisco, Toronto, London and Vienna.
