Actor/comedian Kevin Hart went all-in at the Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal today, optioning all 10 ideas presented to him at the “Laugh Out Loud Network Pitch Panel” for his Laugh Out Loud VOD channel. The panel was presented as part of the comedy fest’s four-day “Just For Laughs ComedyPRO” section.
A joint venture between Hart’s company Hartbeat Digital and Lionsgate, Laugh Out Loud will launch in Q1 2017. It will serve as the exclusive home for all content created by Hart outside of his film and live touring activities, including original series in which he stars. One of the first shows in development is a hidden camera show in which Hart will star as an undercover Lyft driver. The service will also feature content curated by Hart, along with shows featuring social media stars and rising comedians, including a series starring Logan Paul.
The ten winning finalists had two minutes each to pitch their ideas to Hart. The pitches/creators are:
“Campus Law”/Brandon Calder, Ryan George and Samuel Brisson
“Co-Anchor Confidential”/Charlie Berens
“Drunk Eats”/Drew Miller
“Inhuman Resources”/Matt Kelly
“Melting Pot”/Amish Patel
“Mouthpiece”/David Merritt II
“Off Color”/Naomi Steinberg, Ryan Ling, Kara Welker and Nimesh Patel
“One Night Only”/Jonas Diamond, Jeremy Diamond
“The Dating Game”/Sterling Scott
“The Review”/Abdul Butt
Laugh Out Loud is the third OTT service announced by Lionsgate in the past year, following Tribeca ShortList, which launched last fall in partnership with Tribeca Enterprises, and Comic-Con HQ, a co-venture with Comic-Con International that debuted earlier this summer.
The Just For Laughs Festival runs from through Aug. 1 at the Hyatt Regency Montreal, Canada.
